SOPA and Megaupload

Damn, it has been a turbulent week when SOPA took place and the Feds took down Megaupload. I wonder if I will be able to get my series fix. I guess I have to go back to my torrent days. I don’t think I should be worried after all because the internet will always find a way to overcome things like this. It’s still a free world in the internet.

Red Alert 3

Ahhhh I can’t wait for Red Alert 3, not to mention Gemma Atkinson as Lt Eva McKenna. It brought back the sweet memories I used to had playing Red Alert 2 at my college. Yes, you read that right. I played Red Alert 2 at college in the computer lab when there are hands on classes. You can see how lenient my lecturer was. Time flies and now Red Alert 3 will be released next month. Luckily I had already purchased a new desktop recently so my computer can definitely support the game. I didn’t buy the computer specifically to play games though but it will great because I can team up with my brother on LAN games.

Intel is developing USB 3.0

I used to have an old computer that runs on USB 1.1. You cannot imagine how slow it was especially when I need to transfer large video files since I always download them in bulk. Transferring them to my external hard disk was a pain and I wish I never had to do it every day but I had to since my internal hdd space is freaking limited. Then everything start to become different when I finally bought a new computer that supports USB 2.0 and transferring larger files were no longer a hassle. Now this article is telling me Intel is currently developing the USB 3.0 technology. I wonder how fast it can get. Who knows transferring super large files will only take me few seconds to accomplish?

Shrinking computers. Good or Bad? You Decide.

As technology advances, our gadgets shrunk in sizes. I am sure some of you remembers the first generation of cellphones that look more like a brick than a phone itself? Same goes to my ancient 486 desktop that used to weight like an elephant (literally speaking) and I really had trouble with it when I wanted to shift it to a different location. That is one of the memories I do not wish to reminisce. I’m not going to put myself into physical torture again but maybe it is good for those who wants to build their abs. Jokes aside, the size of present and future desktops are bound to shrink. It is a good thing since some one I know keeps complaining her old computer is consuming all the space in her room.
