I never really enjoyed going out during festive seasons due to the heavy traffic out there. So I had to go some where nearer to my place to eat. Every where packed so i decided to head to this place in Lorong Bukit China for dinner. I wasn’t sure what name the restaurant is because it’s all written in Chinese and I can’t read it for the obvious reason but it is one of the famous places to savour on crabs in Melaka.
I ordered herbal ducks for starters since there were few tables we need to wait before our dish arrives. The taste is not too bad but the herbal is too strong for my liking though.
Sze Chuan soup (not the earthquake stricken Szechuan region) is obviously one of my favourite soups. Since they had this in their menu, I decided to give it a try. The taste is nice enough unlike some other places where the soup was added with more water which in my opinion, completely kills the taste off. My only complain is the soup isn’t warm enough.
Vege with shitake mushrooms and tau kua. Wasn’t my favourite because I was kinda ‘allergic’ to the scent of the gravy that is soaked together with the vege.
The steamed jenak (sorry I do not know what it is called in English) was also disappointment. I prefer it to be steamed with Teo cheow style but the restaurateur said they are only familiar with the black gravy style.
The freshness of the fish was nothing to be shout of either but you can’t really blame them because they are more well known for serving crab delicacies which I did not order since there were only 3 of us. If you are a person who is quite particular about cleanliness then I wouldn’t recommend you to visit this place because i noticed my eating utensils were pulled out from a dirty basin but then many chinese restaurants in Malaysia are not renowned for its hygienic care either.
